Repurposed steel tubes are gold medal standard for cost saving, low carbon footprint and timing
The Olympic Development Agency (O.D.A) was charged with delivering the most environmentally friendly games ever. All aspects of the construction of the infrastructure were examined for carbon impact and sustainability.
In early discussions with our long-established customer - who we worked closely with on other major stadia projects including Old Trafford North & South Stands, Emirates Stadium & the Reebok Stadium - it was suggested that the use of our nonprime stock would enable them to exceed the environmental objectives demanded by the agency and in turn, this should prove to be more cost effective.
Our early involvement in the design stages of this project enabled the developer configure the design to use existing surplus unused oil and gas pipeline tube material held in stock at our North Yorkshire premises.
This novel approach to project planning and collaborative thinking enabled the stadium to be completed ahead of schedule, below budget and significantly reduced the carbon footprint.
